How to remove chain grease

The following picture, I found in Women's Sports & Fitness, Nov/Dec 1998. It has a hint how to remove the dirty grease.

Chain grease is extremely difficult to clean. I have a pair of jeans with traces of grease for more than one year and I couldn't remove it. To remove grease from my skin, I most times use Sunlight Soap, a famous Uni Lever soap from grandmother's time. In some cases, I prefer abrasive, but this stuff is quite agressive to my skin as well. There are also very good soaps especially for greasy hands and some are very cheap. In Norfolk, I bought a soap for mechanics for 55 dollar cents.
